Rotorua

23 December 2002 · New Zealand

Rotorua is a medium-sized city by NZ standards. It is in the middle of the North Island and has grown a lot in the past 20 years, partly due to its focus on tourism. One attraction is the Zorb, which I assayed at Medge’s suggestion. I’m glad I did it, but I was quite queasy once I got to the bottom. Rotorua is also known for its sulphurous aroma, since it sits on top of many geysers and fumeroles.
